A quick introduction

Common peas, also known as garden peas, are a type of legume that grows in plump pods. Fresh peas are delicious right after picking, and eating them raw will reveal their incredible bright and sweet taste. Before preparing, simply shell them by popping the pod open and running your finger along the peas.

Peas will keep fine for a few days in a paper bag in the fridge

Suggestions for preparation

Peas can be simply cooked by adding them to sauteed onions or shallots, adding water and letting them boil for around 4 minutes. This simple preparation can then be used as a base for many different dishes. Peas are a delicious ingredient in soups, stir fries and pastas. Peas can also be mashed to create dips and toppings for bread, and adding a couple of leaves of mint will kick your dishes up a notch!
